International Day Of Women And Girls In Science Activities

This is the first year we have put the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on our list of days.   It is only the second time that it is to be celebrated.  The STEM subjects are still dominated by boys although when girls do take these subjects they do exceedingly well at them.  Celebrating this day for us is all about challenging the male stereotype of the scientist.  We all know about Albert Einstein, Thomas Watt, Thomas Edison, and Benjamin Franklin.  However, after reading Ada Twist Scientist I thought for Miss C we should look into how women have progressed science, innovation and technology.For anyone needing encouragement to be the next inventor or if you wonder if science is for you – take a look at the book lists, links and activities and give it a go on any day not just on Saturday – Day of International Women and Girls in Science.
